History of Christian World Foundation

Christian World Foundation (CWF) exists to help feed, clothe, medicate, educate, and care for children of the world without regard for their color or class. CWF’s humanitarian work is inspired by Christian faith in action principles. Operating independently, yet leveraging the experience and expertise of Christian World Adoption, CWF is able to rapidly impact the lives of children.

For example, our partner agency, Christian World Adoption (CWA), currently operates six small transitional homes for orphans in Ethiopia. Each year, hundreds of children come to these homes without food, shelter, education or adults to care for them. These children have been orphaned due to disease, abject poverty and abandonment. There is no social welfare system to care for these children. In many cases, CWA is the only agency standing between these children and death.

Christian World Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization with a track record of successful humanitarian projects. CWF has a history of providing transformative, sustainable, leveraged and replicable humanitarian aid in a variety of countries.

CWF built a crisis pregnancy center in Jalisco, Mexico, where we were able to house up to 14 expectant mothers at a time. We paid all of their expenses, including medical needs, and let them make the decision after the birth as to whether or not they would keep the child. The last year we had a presence there, we had 47 young women go through our home. Approximately one half of these mothers were able to keep their children, and integrate them into their families. We partnered with CWA to place the other half with loving families in the United States.

In other countries CWF has rebuilt orphanages, installed heating and plumbing systems, put new roofs on schools, built playground systems, refurbished rooms and added washers and dryers and other needed equipment. Our education experience includes purchasing sewing machines and related equipment to teach young women a trade, instituting language courses, baking schools, and other related projects that taught children independence and real-life skills.

Christian World Adoption (CWA), whose work is supported by Christian World Foundation, is an accredited international adoption agency in full compliance with the Hague Treaty on Intercountry Adoption.

Christian World Foundation’s latest and most ambitious project is called Acacia Village and is located in Ethiopia. Since 2004, CWA and CWF have operated active adoption and humanitarian aid programs since 2004. We have established excellent relationships with the Ethiopian government, and God has blessed us with wonderful and experienced staff. We placed approximately 240 children from Ethiopia with loving adoptive families in 2007 and anticipate a substantial increase in the future.

As a part of our agreement with the Ethiopian government, we are also involved in several other humanitarian aid projects. CWA is paying for the schooling and related costs of about 250 children in various villages. CWA pays for the uniforms and shoes for a soccer team of about 160 children in Addis Ababa. This gives these children an opportunity to meet in a safe environment and play a team sport, where they are encouraged to embrace and support faith based principles. We network with and support five children's homes, including three which we support 100 percent.

Acacia Village is sustainable because CWA and CWF already have experience with a working model for taking children in and sheltering them until their adoptions are complete.

Whether through direct humanitarian aid to children waiting to be adopted or through grants to families to help fund an adoption through the FamilyBuilder Fund, CWF is making a difference in the lives of children and families—every day.
